
Giannis Lainas is a PhD candidate at UCD’s School of History. He is interested in the history of resistance during the Second World War, notably in Eastern and Southern Europe. He is also interested more broadly in the history of political violence and ideologies, notably the history of Communism.
Giannis received his BA in Political Science and History and his MA in Modern and Contemporary History at Panteion University in Athens. Before coming to UCD, he also completed a second MA in History at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at University College London.
His academic supervisor is Professor Robert Gerwarth.
